New Build – The Drawings Phase
The first phase is Drawing Review … there will be a steady stream for the first half of the project.
They arrive from the designer, the shipyard drawing office, from sub-suppliers and from engineering consultants.
Each of these players has its own drawing office, drawing log and a well-honed system.
You need to keep up with the flow, on behalf of the client, or your risk the call of ‘Permissable Delay’ when approvals are late.
Some drawings may need to be reviewed internally by several of your Owner’s Team.
So… you are going to need more than an inbox and an Excel sheet …
Here is where the HUB helps you:
- a shared Hub Drawing Library stores all drawings, their revisions, their issue dates, deadlines, comments, and status
- the files themselves are stored, with all this information alongside, instead of having to type in filenames to an Excel and link and hope you missed nothing vital
- you can open files, mark them up, enter the information about the file, and then share the link with the next guy in the chain
- Fast, easy, centralised, and with a full archive history of all important drawings …
